This fundraising clinic focuses on horsemanship skills specific for the Ranch Versatility class Ranch Riding. Ranch Riding is a judged pattern class that highlights a horse's ability to work at a forward, working speed while performing required gaits and maneuvers. The ideal ranch riding horse should reflect the versatility, attitude, and movement of a working horse outside the arena.

Wendy Johnston
My name is Wendy Johnston. I am a competitor, coach and owner of High-Performance reining and ranch riding horses. I am awarded in many areas of my sport including as the NRHA affiliate champion in 2015 and 2016.
I have coached and mentored thousands of clients in my 35+ years of instructional horsemanship and equine husbandry classes at Olds College and the University of Guelph and, as a Coach Developer for Canada, I have trained many students at the grass roots up to the High-Performance levels.
I hold a current General Performance Judging card, and as a Competition Coach Specialist (general performance, reining and speed), I have the skills to analyze performance and relate training to sport.
I believe in empowering my riders, I believe in excellent care and management for the horses in my programs. I value providing a creative and thoughtful learning environment for my clients. I believe in the moral and ethical conduct of professional horsemen to ride, compete and grow. Finally, I value the community connection to the horse and the joy horses bring to us all.
